SEOUL, Sept. 26 (Yonhap) -- "Hype Boy," a hit song by K-pop girl group NewJeans, has surpassed 700 million streams on Spotify, the group's agency ADOR said Friday.
As of Wednesday, the track had been streamed 700,169,307 times on the world's largest music streaming platform. It became the group’s fourth song to exceed 700 million streams, following "OMG," "Ditto" and "Super Shy."
Released in August 2022 as one of three title tracks on the group’s debut album, "Hype Boy" is characterized by its refreshing moombahton and electropop sound. Its choreography sparked a global challenge craze, while the song swept domestic and international charts upon release.
More than three years since its debut, the track continues to rank on major local streaming charts, maintaining long-lasting popularity.
NewJeans currently has 15 songs with over 100 million streams each on Spotify, with the combined number of streams for all their songs exceeding 6.7 billion.
