SEOUL December 29 (Yonhap) -- In order to celebrate 100 days until the kick off of 14th Gwangju Biennale, a celebration event took place hoping the safe and successful journey of Gwangju Biennale.

Gwangju City Government and Gwangju Biennale association hosted ceremony of handing out the admission tickets to people at the City Hall of Gwangju on Wednesday.

Mayor Kang Gi-jung of Gwangju City, Park Yang-woo the CEO of Gwangju Biennale association, participants of the event, number of members of the Parliament and more participated in the celebration event.

The CEO Park Yang-woo addressed “We will do our best so that the upcoming exhibition will live throughout the history as one of the greatest exhibition in art history.”

Throughout the speech, Mayor Kang Gi-jung stated “Through the upcoming Gwangju Biennale, Gwangju will take another step towards globalization and for successful kick off of the event I will do my best to gather up all the positive energy among the area,” adding “By using the greatness of Gwangju we will be able to create a festive sight.”

The first admission ticket was given out to actress and caricature artist Jeong Eun-hee, from “Our Blues” by the Mayor Kang Gi-jung.

“I will promise to participate in Gwangju Biennale which will kick off on April of 2023.” addressed actress Jeong Eun-hee.

Gwangju Biennale association runs a supporters group which consists of 15 of the students, and in order to celebrate the D-100 of the event, they posted a celebratory video through their social media accounts.

Moreover, in order to ignite the market economy or Gwangju, will showcase a discount events for those who buy tickets to the Gwangju Biennale with their accommodation. Tickets will be available from January 2.

The 14th Gwangju Biennale which will be held under the theme of “Soft and Weak Like Water” will kick off on April 7 and go on until July 9 at Gwangju Biennale exhibition, Gwangju National Museum and more.
