SEOUL, Jan. 9 (Yonhap) - South Korean rookie girl group NewJeans has succeeded in making two consecutive hits following their debut album "NewJeans" with their first single "OMG."

A total of 701,241 copies of "OMG" has been sold in the first week after its release based on Hanteo Chart the previous day. The figure is more than twice as much as 310,000 copies of "NewJeans" sold during the same period according to the agency ADOR on Monday. 

 

"OMG" was expected to be a hit early on as 800,000 orders were tallied before the official release of the album. On the second day of the album's release, 580,000 copies were sold, making it a "half million seller."

 

NewJeans has won the Rookie of the Year award at the 37th Golden Disc Awards held on Saturday.
