SEOUL, Sept. 10 (Yonhap) -- The chief of South Korea's financial watchdog has highlighted a series of capital market reform measures in London to woo more foreign investors, his agency said Thursday.

In an investor relations (IR) meeting in London on Tuesday (local time), Lee Chan-jin, governor of the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) said South Korea has been implementing a series of steps to upgrade the local capital market as well as boost corporate governance to help reduce the so-called Korea Discount.

The country is aiming to emerge as a "premium market" by implementing market reform measures, thus wooing more foreign investors to the market, Lee said.

According to the FSS, a total of 22 global investment banks and asset managers attended the meeting, with South Korean financial companies, such as Shinhan Financial Group, joining the event.

Separately, the FSS chief held a meeting with Sarah Pritchard, deputy executive chief of Britain's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and other ranking officials from London's financial watchdog agencies, according to the FSS.
