SEOUL, Sept. 14 (Yonhap) -- Prime Minister Han Seong-sook said Monday she takes seriously the recent fall in the government's approval rating, after a poll showed that President Lee Jae Myung's rating has fallen to the lowest point of his presidency at 33.8 percent.

The Realmeter poll, commissioned by the EKN newspaper, marked the ninth consecutive week of decline in Lee's approval rating amid negative public views of his picks for Cabinet positions, the possible deployment of military assets to the Strait of Hormuz and uncertainty over real estate policies.

"I am listening closely to the voice of the people as reflected in approval ratings," Han said during a parliamentary interpellation session when an opposition lawmaker asked to the effect of whether the Lee government was listening to what people want.

"We are listening to it and take it very gravely and weightily," she said. "As prime minister, I am deeply reflecting on how we can improve and am committed to trying my best in this regard."

One of Lee's Cabinet nominees, gender equality minister candidate Yong Hye-in, resigned as candidate on Sunday amid mounting criticism over alleged nepotism and her intention to retain her proportional representation seat in the National Assembly even after taking office as minister.

Justice Minister nominee Kim Seung-won is also embroiled in a lobbying scandal.
