SEOUL, Nov. 6 (Yonhap) -- President Lee Jae Myung has nominated Lee Yong-cheol, the incumbent chief of the defense procurement agency, as new justice minister, his chief of staff said Friday.

Lee also nominated Ahn Duk-su, currently chief of the National Tax Service's Seoul office, as the agency's new head and named Choi In-ho, president of the Korea Housing & Urban Guarantee Corp., as his secretary for political affairs, presidential chief of staff Lim Kwang-hyun told a press briefing.

The nomination of Lee Yong-cheol, head of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), as justice minister came more than two months after the president's first justice minister, Jung Sung-ho, stepped down in late August.

The post of National Tax Service commissioner has remained vacant since former Commissioner Lim stepped down to become the presidential chief of staff last month.

Lee's current secretary for political affairs, Hong Ik-pyo, was expected to leave his post this weekend.

"The latest personnel decisions reflect (Lee's) determination to listen more to the public and communicate with them more," Lim said, adding that they also aim to bring about tangible changes that benefit the people.
