YANGGU, Gangwon Province, Nov. 5 (Yonhap) -- The 2026 Cheongchun Yanggu Punchbowl Apple and Dried Radish Greens Festival, featuring the signature agricultural specialties of Yanggu, Gangwon Province, will kick off Friday for a three-day run at the Seonghwangji area in Haean-myeon, offering a variety of programs for visitors.
Under the theme "Fall in Love with Punchbowl," this year's festival will feature a wide range of activities designed to delight visitors of all ages, including daily performances, hands-on programs, events, food stalls and promotional booths.
Promotional booths for apples and dried radish greens will introduce visitors to the region's specialties. Food-related activities, social media check-in events and on-site experience programs will run throughout the three-day festival. Visitors can also take part in traditional rice cake pounding demonstrations twice a day.
Food-related activities featuring apples and dried radish greens will include making dried radish greens rice puffs, dried radish greens-stuffed kimbap, chewy apple pizza and miniature apple lollipops.
Other hands-on programs will include making key rings with apple-shaped Perler beads, decorating keycaps with dried radish greens motifs and building cookie houses.
An event zone will host five prize giveaways each day. Visitors who verify purchases of at least 20,000 won (US$14) at the festival will also receive a pair of exfoliating bath gloves, with the giveaway limited to 800 people per day throughout the three-day event.
Another event will offer premium makgeolli, or traditional Korean rice wine, to the first 100 visitors each day who provide proof of having attended all three of Yanggu's major festivals: the Gomchwi Festival, the Navel Festival and the Apple and Dried Radish Greens Festival.
Food options will include cafes and snack stalls, as well as local restaurants serving dishes such as dried radish greens bibimbap and savory pancakes made with the vegetable.
The main stage will host performances every day to entertain festivalgoers.
On the opening day, performances by the traditional percussion group Teo and the Yanggu Sarang Culture and Arts Troupe will be followed by the Punchbowl "Fun Fun" concert, featuring popular singer Tae Jin-ah and other performers.
On Saturday, a celebratory concert featuring popular singers Ahn So-mi and Seongri will take place, along with a performance of Dolsanryeong Jige Nori, a traditional Korean back-carrier folk performance representing Yanggu.
On the final day, performances by local arts clubs will be followed by the Punchbowl "Cheongchun Yanggu" concert, featuring popular singer Lee Chang-min and other artists, bringing the festival to a close.
"We have put our utmost effort into preparing this festival, as it is the last one to be held in Yanggu this year," Yanggu County Governor Kim Wang-gyu said Wednesday. "I hope visitors will take advantage of the opportunity to purchase our high-quality apples and dried radish greens, which are renowned as among the best in the country, at prices lower than those at regular markets, and make many happy memories at the festival."
