SEOUL, Aug. 20 (Yonhap) -- Actress Jang Shin-young has publicly announced her decision to forgive her husband, Kang Kyung-joon, following allegations of his involvement in an extramarital affair.

On August 19, Jang took to her personal social media accounts to address the situation, stating, "My husband and I had many conversations, and he has deeply reflected and regretted his actions. Although we went through an indescribably painful time, we have decided to stay together as a family for the sake of our children."

Expressing her gratitude to supporters, she added, "I am deeply sorry for disappointing those who have given us such generous support and encouragement. However, I kindly ask for restraint in the excessive criticism directed at my husband, as I am worried our children may come across it."

Kang Kyung-joon recently lost a first-instance lawsuit after being sued for damages by the husband of the woman involved in the alleged affair. Kang, who married Jang in 2018 after five years of dating, is the father of two sons.

The couple has been in the spotlight for their appearances on various variety shows, including The Return of Superman, where they were praised for their family-oriented image, especially in caring for Jang's son from her previous marriage.
