SEOUL February 22 (Yonhap) -- "Yeongdeok Snow Crab Festival" which shines light on the North Gyeongsang province’s local good Snow Crabs will kick off on February 24 until the 26 at the Samsa Marine Park.
According to the Yeongdeok town government on Wednesday, Yeongdeok Culture and Tourism Foundation, and Yeongdeok Snow Crab Festival Committee will kick off the festival by showcasing various events such as rituals hoping for a safe run of the festival, Korean traditional shows, and more.
The festival will consists of segments of Snow Crab fishing, running while carrying Snow Crabs, surprise Snow Crab auction, multi show, food parlors, and various more.
In order to prevent the traffic congestion and inconvenience caused by crowded visitors, the town’s government will crackdown on parked cars on the streets surrounding the festival areas and provide shuttle busses.
This will be the first onsite Snow Crab festival being held in four years due to wide spread of Covid 19.
Yeongdeok Culture and Tourism Foundation, and Yeongdeok Snow Crab Festival Committee has rescheduled the festival from December of 2022 to February of 2023 in order to provide the tastiest crabs to its visitors and relocated the festival to Samsa Marine Park from Haeparang Park due to ongoing construction.
Mayor of the Yeongdeok town Kim Kwang-yeol addressed “By providing various attractions where not only the visitors but also locals will be able to enjoy, we hope a lot of people will come visit and enjoy the festival.”
