LOS ANGELES, Jan. 20 (Yonhap) -- Bong Joon-ho, who took home four Academy awards with movie “Parasite,” is expected to set next movie at Warner Bros. according to the Hollywood media in the U.S.
Director Bong will join hands with Warner Bros. to write a script and direct an SF film about human clones, said citing sources including Variety and Hollywood Reporter.
The title of the upcoming movie has not been confirmed and is an adaptation of the novel “Mickey7.”
Edward Ashton’s novel “Mickey7” is scheduled to publish in the first quarter of this year and is about a human clone sent to colonize an unknown planet.
“Mickey7” is a human clone sent to colonize the ice world Niflheim and is in charge of dangerous tasks on behalf of other dispatched members. When a clone dies, it is regenerated by transplanting memories into a new body.
The novel tells the story of "Mickey 7," a clone, meets another clone "Mickey 8" and finds out one’s fate.
The novel's author Ashton sent the manuscript to director Bong before publication, and director Bong showed interest in it and even worked on some movie casting, according to Variety.
Robert Pattinson is expected to star in the upcoming movie.
Pattinson starred in movies “Harry Potter,” “Twilight,” Christopher Nolan’s “TENET” and will play the role of the next-generation hero in "The Batman," which will be released in March.
Variety quoted, “It’s not clear how closely Bong plans to stick to the source material.”
