SEOUL, Nov. 7 (Yonhap) -- KBS’s upcoming Wednesday-Thursday series "Face Me" centers on Cha Jung-woo, a brilliant surgeon holding dual specialties in emergency medicine and plastic surgery.

Despite his skills, which can save lives in critical moments, Cha Jung-woo chooses to pursue cosmetic surgery—not out of interest in enhancing appearances or helping patients regain confidence, but because he’s tired of the intense emotions and life-or-death situations he encountered in the emergency room.

At a press conference held on the 6th at The Saint in Seoul's Guro District, lead actor Lee Min-ki, who plays Cha Jung-woo, shared, “I’ve never seen a story approach the subject of plastic surgery in this way. I was drawn to the fresh perspective.” Known as a top cosmetic surgeon living a comfortable life, Cha’s world is upturned when he becomes entangled in a crime. He is then compelled to take on the role of dedicated physician for crime victims.

“This isn’t just a story about a plastic surgeon; it’s about uncovering the truth in the lives of crime victims. That journey is intriguing,” Lee Min-ki noted. To prepare for his role, which includes multiple surgery scenes, he visited hospitals, practiced suturing, and even rehearsed with medical instruments at home to bring authenticity to his performance.

Cha Jung-woo, distant due to past trauma that led him to close himself off emotionally, begins to open up gradually, thanks to a circle of supportive allies. Actress Han Ji-hyun joins as Lee Min-hyung, a passionate detective in the violent crimes unit, while Lee Yi-kyung takes on the role of Han Woo-jin, Jung-woo’s loyal friend from childhood. Veteran actor Jeon Bae-soo plays Kim Seok-hoon, a warm mentor figure to Cha.

Han Ji-hyun expressed her hope for the drama, saying, “As a detective, I want to not only catch the perpetrators but also help the victims heal. I hope this drama brings healing to viewers as well.” Lee Yi-kyung hinted at a unique friendship in the show, saying, “Expect a fun ‘bromance’ between the polar-opposite characters of Cha Jung-woo and Han Woo-jin.”

Director Jo Rok-hwan emphasized the deeper message behind the series, stating, “This drama explores what it really means to be happy. It questions the pursuit of happiness through plastic surgery and offers insight into what true happiness may be. I hope viewers looking for happiness tune in.”

Face Me premieres on the 6th at 9:50 p.m.
