SEOUL, August 26 (Yonhap) -- The 24th Seoul International Women's Film Festival started last night, August 25, at Oil Tank Culture Park, in Mapo-gu, Seoul, where it will be held for eight days. 


The slogan of the film festival is "Let's meet at (The Seoul International Women's Film Festival). The festival explained the slogan that it is to "recognize and welcome the diversity and differences of everyone, and to celebrate and invite the audience to the festival in person after three years." 

 

Prior to the opening, Shin Su-won, director, who got the Park Nam-ok award for this year, actor Kwon Hae-hyo, actress Kim Ji-mee, and Ye Ji-won, and Seo Ji-hyun, who started the Me too campaign in Korea, attended the Purple Carpet. 

 

The opening of the festival was hosted by director Byun Young-joo. Then, with the start of singer Hwang So-yoon's stage to celebrate the opening, it continued with the award for best voice of the year, the Park Nam-ok award, and a plaque of merit for actress Kang Su-yeon, to show condolence.

Initially, the opening ceremony was supposed to be hosted by actor Bang Min-ah, the ambassador for the festival, and singer Kim Yoon-ah celebratory stage was planned, but the two couldn't make it as they were confirmed to have COVID-19. With Bang Min-ah's absence, the "Girls Girls Girls" star talk event scheduled for August 26 was also canceled.
