SEOUL, Nov. 1 (Yonhap) -- K-pop girl group Kep1er, now reorganized from nine members to seven, is returning with a commitment to showcase a stronger, more unified image.

During a recent press event in Seoul, the group expressed their determination to uphold their unique style while growing together.

"We’re more resilient now, and we’re eager to make the most of each moment,” member Kim Chae-hyun shared, emphasizing the group’s excitement for their future.

Kep1er’s upcoming sixth mini-album, TIPI-TAP, releasing on October 1, marks their first project since the member reshuffle. Originally formed through Mnet's 2021 audition show Girls Planet 999, Kep1er recently renewed contracts with seven of its original members, making it the first Mnet-formed project group to extend its activities through re-signing.

With TIPI-TAP, the group aims to retain their core identity while exploring new musical directions. "We revamped everything except our group name," member Xiaoting noted, hinting at the album's refreshed approach.

The album includes a variety of songs such as Sync-Love, Drip, and Bitter Taste, which explore themes from love’s allure to the thrills of attraction through dance, hip-hop, and R&B influences. Kep1er's Huening Bahiyyih expressed a desire to broaden their musical scope as a seven-member lineup, adding, "This album features our most diverse range of concepts yet."

The album's title track, TIPI-TAP, is a hyperpop song inspired by the childhood folding game often called “fortune-teller” or “cootie catcher,” symbolizing a journey in search of love through its catchy, fast-paced chorus. "With TIPI-TAP’s hyperpop sound, we’re able to show a new side of Kep1er," explained Choi Yu-jin, noting the addictive repetition of the title phrase.

Adjusting to performing with fewer members, the group took extra care to ensure they filled the stage effectively. Member Seo Young-eun contributed lyrics to two songs, Drip and Heart Surf, and expressed an ambition to continue developing her songwriting.

Kep1er's Kim Da-yeon shared her own goals, stating, “I’m learning MIDI composition on my own, and I want to eventually include my own work in our albums.”

Reflecting on their journey, the members hope TIPI-TAP will establish Kep1er as a memorable name in the industry, much like their debut song WA DA DA

"Although we’ve developed our own color, we still have more to prove," said Kim Chae-hyun. "We want Kep1er’s name to stand out and create a lasting impact."
