SEOUL, Nov. 11 (Yonhap) —"I used to lightly tell my fans that I would release a remake album of "About Thirty" when I turned thirty. I prepared for this album while working on dramas because I wanted to keep this promise.
Jeong Eun-ji, who is returning as a solo artist after two years since she released her second mini album "Simple," held a meeting to talk about the production of her new remake album with reporters on Friday in Gangnam, Seoul.
Jeong Eun-ji talked about her feelings, saying, "I could not be satisfied by myself even though I acted, released albums, and worked with my group," and added, "I was thinking about the things that would make me happy, but ended up thinking about 'What am I good at?'"
Instead of giving a clear answer to these concerns, Jeong Eun-ji decided to comfort her peers who might have the same concerns and present music that they could relate to.
The title track, "Journey for Myself," is originally a side track of Buzz's second album, which gained high popularity. Jeong Eun-ji said that she used to feel like she was traveling when she was just in her room. She said, "I used to go to coin karaoke a lot when I was young, and I used to finish my allowance singing this song."
She said that she chose YB's "White Whale" for the second track because she wanted to give back the comfort she got.
Jeong Eun-ji explained, "I got comforted listening to this song. I expressed what kind of music I want to do in the future and the directions in this song."
The track "Dream" is a comforting and cheerful message for herself, who left her home town and made her debut as an idol when she was 18 years old.
It is said that obtaining permission to remake this song, which expresses the anguish of living away from one's hometown, was difficult.
"When I was about to give up (the remake), he contacted me like an acceptance phone call and allowed the remake," JeongEun-ji explained.
"I heard that Cho Yong-pil asked if I was someone who lived abroad. He probably allowed the remake because he thought I would be able to sing it with sincerity.
Songs like Kim Kwang-seok's "About Thirty" and Kim Jong-hwan's "For Love" are also tracked in her new album "Log."
Jeong Eun-ji made her debut in 2011 as a member of the girl group Apink and released hit songs such as "NoNoNo," "Mr. Chu," "LUV," and more.
She made her acting debut in 2012, when she appeared on tvN's "Respond 1997." She recently played the main character Kang Ji-gu on TVING's drama "Work Later, Drink Now," and also presented impressive acting on tvN's drama "Blind."
Jeong Eun-ji, who returned as a singer after a long time, said while laughing, "The reason I started music and dreamed of becoming a singer was to comfort someone." "I don't want to embarrass myself. I will do well in both work and interpersonal relationships."
