SEOUL April 19 (Yonahap ) -- “Director, I trusted his style.” South Korean actor Park Seo-joon, addressed throughout his interview regarding the upcoming movie “Dream” at a café located within Jongno district, Seoul on April 18.

“Dream” is the latest production of director Lee Byeong-hyeon who is known for his works such as “Twenty” released in 2015, “Extreme Job” released in 2019 and more. The movie is expected to premiere on April 26, and it depicts a story of former soccer player Yoon Hong-dae, acted by Park Seo-joon and producer Lee So-min acted by IU, who lacks in enthusiasm takes on a challenge to participate in a homeless World Cup with unorganized group of players. The plot of the movie is based on a true story from 2010.

According to the actor, Park Seo-joon, he was impressed by the work of director Lee Byeong-heon after watching one of his films “Twenty,” during his twenties, and dreamed of participating in a production directed by him. Director idea of not over-thinking everything and to focus on implementing humor and fun into the scene impressed Park Seo-joon according to his interview.

Protagonist character Yoon Hong-dae is similar to the comedic character often times featured within director Lee Byeong-Heon’s movies. However this time, protagonist looks very normal externally, however the way he acts are bit out of place.

He would poke one of his eyes with his fingers, and would participate in a race against opponent during the soccer match.

Park Seo-joon addressed “Director had specific told me to look as insignificant as possible.”

Moreover, actor stated that the idea of gathering up homeless people who have already suffered from harsh reality of life and dream together to participate in a World Cup attracted me to participate in the production. While acting out the character Hong-dae I learned to focus more into the idea of process oriented mindset instead of result oriented perspective.

“Those who have participated in the production as homeless soccer players were injured throughout the shoot due to the nature of sports related movies, hence I naturally began to cheer them up. I have learned, winning the match is important however, we are doing our best from our perspective, and it is ok not to be perfect. I guess I have matured like Hong-dae.” addressed Park Seo-joon, throughout his interview.

Since Park Seo-joon had to act out former professional soccer player, actor addressed that there has been a lot of challenges. Since the movie features various scenes where he actually plays soccer, therefore actor worked hard and practiced a lot in order to perform well.

“I tried my best to mimic the moves as much as possible,” addressed Park Seo-joon humbly throughout his interview. However, within the movie, Park Seo-joon manages to showcase skills as professional soccer player without using any computer graphics. From powerful shootings, to trapping, and various unique skills, Park Seo-joon showcases various skills throughout the movie.

“Soccer coach from 2010 homeless World Cup guided me throughout the production, and in order to maintain the skill sets, I have participated in a soccer clubs. I would call them to see whether they have a match and would run around all day long.” Actor Park Seo-joon chuckled throughout his interview.

One of the reasons why S.Korean movie “Dream” takes up a special place within Park Seo-joon’s mind is because due to the pandemic the movie was held off from premiering for two years.

According Park Seo-joon, due to the postponements of premiering of various productions due to pandemic has led the actor to a short slump.

“Whether it’s a positive feedback or criticism, one gets motivation from any sort of reaction from the public, however, the pandemic has stagnated various productions from being released for over 4 years, and that led me to believe ‘Is this really worth anything?’ Hence, being able to premiere a movie itself has huge meanings to me. I hope a lot of people will visit the theater to watch ‘Dream’ before it gets pulled down.” addressed Park Seo-joon throughout his interview.
