Sung Si-kyung's Makgeolli Production Halted Due to Missing Labels

SEOUL, July 2 (Yonhap) -- Sung Si-kyung’s makgeolli, "Kyung Takju 12 degrees," has been ordered to halt production for a month after the label on the prototype was found to be missing essential information during product testing, according to the Incheon Regional Food and Drug Administration.

 

Kyung Korea, the company behind the product, stated on the 1st, "We were informed by the Incheon Regional Food and Drug Administration that the labels on the test prototypes we sent to some acquaintances for product development testing lacked information such as product name, content volume, manufacturer, and product manufacturing number."

 

The company explained, "These products were sample prototypes in the final testing stage before the official launch, and it was not possible to fully include detailed information due to the production stage. However, we received a response that all labeling is mandatory even on test stage samples, and were notified that while the already produced products can be sold, production at the brewery is not allowed for a month."

 

Sung Si-kyung expressed on his personal social media account, "Even if it was alcohol to share with friends, I should have taken care of administrative details more meticulously, and it was a mistake born out of my ignorance." He added, "I will take this time to carefully review and correct any lacking areas and reorganize."

 

Kyung Korea plans to sell "Kyung Takju 12 degrees" until August 2nd, take time for reorganization, and resume sales on the 20th of the same month.

 

The company assured, "All product information is fully stated on the labels of the currently sold products. We recognize the mistake made in our sincere attempt to launch delicious alcohol, and we will take special care to prevent such occurrences in the future."

 

"Kyung Takju" is a product directly released by Sung Si-kyung, known for his love of alcohol, in February.
