GYEONGJU, July 15 (Yonhap) -- Lotus flowers bloom in response to sunlight, mainly during the hot humid summer weather. In Gyeongju's Daereungwon Tumuli Park, the pond is full with blossomed Lotuses.
Daereungwon is a cemetery for the royal family which ruled Silla kingdom during the late fourth through the early sixth century. The tomb lying at the back of the photo is called the Hwangnam Daechong and is the largest tomb to exist on the Korean Peninsula. This tomb, which is 23 meters high and 120 meters long, is so-called a twin mound tomb as it contains a double burial of a king and his queen.
A number of artifacts, including gold crowns, were excavated during the excavation surveys conducted in the 1970s, calling them Tutankhamen tombs in Korea.
