SEOUL, November 13 (Yonhap) --Singers who debuted in the 2000s and have around 20 years of experience have done well on the music charts this fall.

There are opinions saying that their music brings back memories of old times for fans who are older than 30 years old, while at the same time appealing to Gen Z, the younger generation.
Singer Yoon-ha, who debuted in 2004 (in Japan), has been getting the most attention this fall.

Yoon-ha, who is an all-rounder based on rock, has been showing her popularity as the title song "Event Horizon" of her six full-length repackaged albums released last March has been climbing up the chart and topping music charts half a year after release.

This record drew attention in the music industry as it was made just by the "song" without support from appearing in variety programs, TikTok, or other short-form contents.

During an interview with Yonhap News Agency, Yoon-ha stated "This sixth album is an album I made with full effort for 11 months during the COVID-19 pandemic," she said, adding, "The music was made with energy that came from people from my agency; I think this result was made as we combined all our energy thinking that we should share this good music with our friends."

Tei, who made his debut in 2004 with 18 years of experience, is another singer who showed great results on the music charts this fall.

He remade Buzz's hit song "Monologue 2003" with the same title and entered the "Top 10" on Melon, Korea's biggest music platform.

It is easy to understand the popularity of "Monologue" by seeing a series of singers who recorded the best hits of the year, including Yoon-ha (1st), (G)I-DLE (2nd), LE SSERAFIM (3rd), IVE (4th), and NewJeans (5th, 8th) above Tei's ranking on the Melon chart.

"Monologue" is a rock ballad in which the singer expresses his heartbreaking feelings for his lover through lyrics like "Do not meet someone like me again/Do not allow me."Buzz's original song was Korean men's favorite song to sing at karaoke in the 2000s.

Tei appeared on JTBC's "Knowing Bros," starring Buzz's Min Kyung-hoon, the original singer, and sang the song with his unique singing style. As the song was actually remade, the broadcast video that aired in November last year also gained attention.

Fans have said that this song brings back memories from 20 years ago.A music listener commented on Melon, saying, "It is so nice to hear Tei's version of Buzz's song, which I used to listen to during school days," and added, "I started listening to Tei's other songs as well; I feel sentimental."

It is interesting that Generation Z (born in the late 1990s and early 2000s), who have never experienced the heyday of Buzz and Tei, are also enjoying the song.

There are comments from people who do not know Tei, questioning, "This singer has been gaining a lot of attention; is he famous?"

Thanks to the interest, "Monologue" was also listed in the top 10 of "Music Most Heard by Teenage Men" based on Naver Music at 10 a.m. the previous day.

Jung Min-jae, a pop music critic, analyzed, "There are many ballads with "pop styles" these days that make ballads feel sophisticated without exploding their emotions, but "Monologue" is a "song" that Koreans are familiar with," adding, "I think it appealed to music fans in this regard."

He continued, "The emotions in the remade version were expressed in a more dramatic way as Tei is a skilled singer," and evaluated, "He maximized the charm of the original song."

Sung Si-kyung, the prince of ballads who made his debut in 2000 with "The Road to Me," successfully put his song "Every Moment of You," released in 2014 as an OST of "You Who Came From the Stars," to a Melon chart ranking above 20.

Because Sung Si-kyung's unique sweet vocals blend with piano and string melodies, it is analyzed as a traditional ballad that fits well with the autumn atmosphere.

In addition, as the year-end concert season of Sung Si-kyung, who records sold-out cases as soon as the reservation starts, approaches, some say that fans have been listening to his song again.
