SEOUL, April 2 (Yonhap) -- Song Kang-ho's first series appearance, Disney+ original 'Uncle Samsik', will be unveiled in May.
Disney+ confirmed on the 2nd that they will release the 16-episode series 'Uncle Samsik' on May 15th.
'Uncle Samsik' tells the story of Park Doo-chil, nicknamed Samsik, who ensures three meals a day even during the war in Korea in the 1960s, and Kim San, an elite young man who wants to create a country where everyone eats well and lives well.
Song Kang-ho transforms into Park Doo-chil, also known as Uncle Samsik, while Byun Yo-han plays Kim San, an elite officer leading national reconstruction efforts.
The opening poster depicts Song Kang-ho holding snacks in one hand and a grilled eel in the other, smiling warmly, with the phrase "When your belly is full, your heart opens" written on it.
The 40-second teaser trailer features various characters calling out "Uncle Samsik." It then explains why he is called Uncle Samsik, followed by a narration, and Song Kang-ho saying, "I really like it, it's my nickname," with a smile.
Directed and written by Shin Yeon-shick, who wrote the scripts for films such as 'Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet' (2016), 'Men of Plastic' (2022), and 'Cobweb' (2023), and directed films like 'Rough Play' (2013) and 'Like a French Film' (2016).
