SEOUL, April 1 (Yonhap) -- Group BTS’s agency sued perpetrators who spread false rumors and malicious posts against the BTS members.
“Based on recent reports from fans and evidence collected through self-monitoring, several complaints have been submitted to investigative agencies,” announced Big Hit Music on Friday through the fan community weverse.
Big Hit Music, in particular, mentioned two of these cases and stressed that it will respond strictly.
"We sued a suspect who maliciously fabricated rumors about BTS, defamed the artist, and spread false information for defamation and obstruction of business," explained the agency.
Under the current law, obstruction of business can result in imprisonment for up to five years or a fine of up to 15 million won.
Big Hit Music also said, "We filed a complaint after receiving information on spreading false rumors even through a review column of consumer goods brands as well as social media, communities, and YouTube."
The agency warned, "We will take strict measures without any agreement or mercy to eradicate malicious behavior."
Big Hit Music is legally responding to writers of malicious posts containing defamation, insults, sexual harassment, and false information against BTS.
