SEOUL, Nov. 12 (Yonhap) -- In the historical thriller movie "The Owl" revolving around the death of Crown Prince So-hyeon, Yoo Hae-jin plays the role of In-jo wearing a Gonryongpo.

He, in 25 years of filmography, has never played the role of a king, played In-jo, the monarch of that era, with his own colors. Playing In-jo in his own style, which is quite different from dignified kings depicted in other movies and historical dramas, he was praised by his acting.

Yoo, who met with Yonhap News Agency at a cafe in Samcheong-dong said, "At first when the role of king came to me, I just said I would do it, but I was afraid of whatif the audience see me as a king due to familiariry."

He said, "I was worried what if the king does not suit me, but I was glad no one laughed at the preview premiere yesterday."

The actor said "In order to get rid of the burden and worries of playing king, I just hypnotized myself and had no answer except to be faithful to the 'scene.'"

Yoo Hae-jin said that while working on this film, the movie "The King and the Clown," which he filmed 17 years ago came to his mind many times. That is because two movies were filmed at a same set. He gave lots of laughs to audiences by appearing as the clown Yuk-gap in "The King and the Clown."

"I went to Buan set and it really reminded me a lot of "The King and the Clown." At the time, I was lying down (as a clown) on hot days, but now (becoming the king) I'm watching from above. "The King and the Clown" was a good film. It felt good to go back to a place where a good work was filmed and shoot, and it reminded me a lot of the past."

At the press conference held after the premiere, Yoo mentioned Ryu Joon-yeol saying,"Now it feels like his acting got think and strong."

Yoo Hae-jin also praised Kim Seong-cheol, a junior who played the role of Crown Prince So-hyeon, saying, "I was really surprised. How can he articulate such ordinary lines so well, I loved those heartwarming scenes. He is a good actor."

He, while talking about the burdens of playing a king, said, "The most tough acting is a comedy."

"Comedy gives the feeling that it is easy. (The audience) thinks 'it must be easy', but it's not true. I normally weigh about 70kg, but when I was in the military, I weighed 65kg, and when I was filming the comedy movie 'Lucky' I weighed 67kg. I didn't lose that much weight while filming this movie. I also had stomach problems when filming 'Lucky'. What is most difficult is comedy."

Regarding the movie "Owl," Yoo Hae-jin said, "It was a challenging and serious work," adding, "The fresh setting was good, and the process of finding the criminal is exciting. I hope the audience will be happy when watching this movie."
