Kep1er sells 200,000 copies on first week of debut...best-selling girl group

SEOUL, Jan. 10 (Yonhap) -- Kep1er, a girl group formed through Mnet’s audition TV program “Girls Planet 999, The Girls Saga,” sold over 200,00 copies on the first week of its debut.

Kep1er’s first mini-album “FIRST IMPACT” was sold over 200,000 copies on the first week based on the Hanteo chart, according to WAKE ONE·Swing Entertainment on Jan. 10.

The group set the record of selling more than 150,000 copies on Jan. 3, the day of its debut,

The agency has mentioned, “Kep1er is the only girl group that sold over 200,000 on the first week of the debut,” adding, “They broke the record as the best-selling girl group which debuted in 2021 and 2022 as well." 

Kep1er’s first album also ranked high on the music charts.

“FIRST IMPACT” ranked No.1 on Worldwide iTunes Album Chart in 11 countries, including Japan, India, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Chile, and Mexico. The group also ranked No. 1 on K-pop Chart in 23 countries.

The nine-member group comes from combining the word "Kep," which means catching a dream, and the number "1," meaning the members will come together and become the best.

The group includes 9 members from Korea, China, Japan and plans to carry out various activities over the next two and a half years.
