SEOUL, July 18 (Yonhap) -- Blockbuster film “Top Gun: Maverick” starring Tom Cruise returned to its thrown on South Korean box office by topping the chart this weekend.
According to the integrated network of movie tickets by the Korean Film Council, “Top Gun: Maverick” attracted total of 702 thousand people within 4 days from July 15 to July 17, which was total of 43.2 percent of people who watched movie in the theater during that 4 days. This resulted in “Top Gun: Maverick” resurfacing back to the top of South Korean box office after 2 weeks. The total accumulated viewers for “Top Gun: Maverick” is at 5.733 million people.
“Top Gun: Maverick” which premiered on July 22 was pushed down to the second place after its continued fame at the top of South Korean box office for 2 weeks after “Thor: Love and Thunder” premiered on to the screen. However within a week “Top Gun: Maverick” regained its fame and continued on with its fame by topping the reservation rate.
“Thor: Love and Thunder” which attracted total of 309.8 thousand people which is 25 percent of the viewers during the weekend, was ranked second on the South Korean box office.
