SEOUL, November 9 (Yonhap) -- The Korean horror fantasy webtoon "Island" will be released as an original drama on TVING next month.

YLAB's subsidiary companies, YLAB Flex and Studio Dragon, and Gilstory Entertainment worked in collaboration to produce the webtoon "Island" by Youn In-wan and Yang Kyung-il into a drama, according to content production company YLAB.

This drama is produced by director Bae-jong, who produced the movie "Welcome To Dongmakgol," and actors Kim Nam-gil, Lee Da-hee, Cha Eun-woo, and Sung-jun will star.

The drama will be released on TVING as their original drama next month, and will be released globally through Amazon Prime Video.

The original webtoon depicts the story of exorcists fighting against unidentified monsters against the backdrop of Jeju Island. It was published as a publishing cartoon in 1997, and it was serialized on Naver Webtoon from 2016 to 2018 after being remastered.

Writer Youn In-wan said, "It is new and very exciting to hear that "Island," which started as a cartoon became a webtoon and is going to be dramatized and released to the international market," adding, "I hope the audience loves the drama as much as they liked the webtoon."
