SEOUL, Jan. 4 (Yonhap) – K-pop rookie girl group Kep1er, which consists of TOP9 members from the Mnet’s audition TV program “Girls Planet 999: The Girls Saga” has released the first mini album and opened the debut showcase to take their first step into the music industry on Jan. 3.
Kep1er, a girl group formed through Mnet’s audition TV programs, following I.O.I and IZ*ONE, is a multinational group that consists of 6 members from Korea, including the leader Choi Yu-jin, Japanese members Hikaru and Mashiro, and Chinese member Xiaoting. The member Huening Bahiyyih is a popular K-pop boy group TOMORROW X TOGETHER’s Huening Kai’s little sister.
The name of the group comes from combining the word "Kep," which means catching a dream, and the number "1," meaning the members will come together and become the best.
The group’s debut album “FIRST IMAPCT” contains a total of 6 songs, including “MVSK” and “See The Light,” along with the title song “WA DA DA.”
“0.0.0,” a signal song of “Girls Planet 999: The Girls Sage,” “Shine,” a completion mission song, and “Another Dream," a ballad song that drew viewers’ attention with sweet melodies, were included in the album in Kep1er’s version.
At the showcase held on Jan. 3, Kep1er mentioned “The album contains Kepler's worldview and colorful images," adding, "It's the beginning of Kepler's dream so please take a good look."

When asked about the group’s strengths, the member Hikaru confidentially answered “I think our strengths are energy and performances,” adding “We have energy to find our dreams and follow them. And we will show that energy through our performances.”
While preparing for the debut, Kep1er’s group schedule was once postponed when the members Xiaoting and Mashiro were tested positive for COVID-19 infection.
Mashiro said, "I tried to positively think that the preparation for my debut got longer to take more efforts," adding, "I will work hard to show better performances as you guys have waited.”
Kep1er drew attention as the group’s reserved presales exceeded over 130,000 until Jan. 1 at 5 p.m., ahead of the official release of the album.
