SEOUL February 20 (Yonhap) -- First movie from the Marvel Studio of the year “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” shortened as “Ant-Man 3” has topped the South Korean box office on its first weekend of its premiere.
According to the integrated network of movie tickets by the Korean Film Council on Monday, “Ant-Man 3” has successfully attracted over 590 thousand audiences from February 17 through February 19 and landed on top of the S.Korean box office. In total, “Ant-Man 3” has accumulated over 860 thousand audiences.
The record showcased by “Ant-Man 3” falls short compare to Marvel Studio’s movie “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” which successfully attracted 790 thousand audiences within the first weekend of its premiere in November of 2022. Throughout the time of its screening, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” has successfully accumulated over 2.1 million audiences.
Continuing on, Japanese animation movie “The First Slam Dunk” which has been on top of the box office for three consecutive weekends stepped down from its throne after attracting over 269 thousand people throughout the weekend. Although the ranking has decreased, the movie managed to attract similar amount of audience compare to it’s the last week’s audience.
“Titanic” which has returned to the movie theater in 25 years has stepped down to the third within S.Korean box office. The movie managed to attract over 98 thousand audiences throughout the weekend which accumulates to 10.9 percent of total movie goers.
Animation movie “Duda & Dada the Secret of HooHoo Island” and “The Amazing Maurice” which premiered alongside “Ant-Man 3” attracted about 50 thousand audiences throughout the weekend placing in fourth and fifth within the S.Korean box office.
