SEOUL, April 9 (Yonhap) -- TV personality Jun Hyun-moo has issued a public apology following criticism over a live social media broadcast he conducted while drinking with singer BoA.

In a statement posted on his social media on Wednesday, Jun wrote, “Our official apology regarding last Saturday’s live broadcast was delayed. I sincerely apologize to everyone who felt uncomfortable because of this incident.”

Jun Hyun-moo and BoA faced backlash for comments made during a live stream on March 5, during which they made an inappropriate remark about comedian Park Na-rae, who was not present.

During the broadcast, a viewer asked Jun about dating rumors involving Park Na-rae. BoA responded, “I don’t think they’re dating. Oppa (Jun Hyun-moo) is too good for her,” to which Jun replied, “Are you sure you want to say that? We’re live right now,” further fueling the controversy.

Jun said, “Immediately after the live stream, I contacted Na-rae and apologized for mentioning her unnecessarily. I want to say once again how sorry I am and thank her for being so understanding despite what must have been an unpleasant situation.”

He admitted fault, saying, “It was clearly wrong to mention someone who wasn’t present during a broadcast, and even more so to conduct a live stream in a drunken state. I deeply regret my actions and will reflect on them.”
