SEOUL, Oct. 19 (Yonhap) -- "Gangneung Local Food and Bakery Market" event will be held at the Gangneung Green City Experience Center Ezen for two days from Oct 22.

This event is a food culture project in which the Gangneung Cultural & Arts Foundation is trying for the first time this year to develop and spread local food culture tourism items.

Various events to enjoy and experience using local foods will be preared, major programs including 2022 Gangneung Bakery Awards, a large-scale cake sharing event, and local food experiening event.

Gangneung Bakery Awards will be divided into two: general participants and experts.

Barkery awards for the experts will be held under the themes of bread, cupcakes, baked goods, and European bread using local food, and the winning product will be used as local food specialties.

Large-scale cake sharing event will take place for those who visit the event area at the afternoon of Oct. 22.

It is an event that produce and share width 70cm, length 5m sized cake, providing another fun to the visitors.

Other various events such as animal cookie decorating event by Catholic Kwandong University, food making event using Gangneung rice and potatoes, and rice makgeolli making event run by Gangneung Traditional Liquor Research Association will be held.

An official from the Gangneung Cultural & Arts Foundation said on Oct. 19, "The need to develop tourism products and food tourism using local food is growing as the number of tourists to experience food culture increases," adding, " We will continue to do research to make synergy by utilizing invented deserts etc. at Gangneug Coffee Festival."
