SEOUL, Apr. 26 (Yonhap) -- South Korean-made online video streaming platform Wavve, which put out the coming-of-age original series "Weak Hero Class 1" as well as dating reality show "Love Alarm Clap! Clap! Clap!” (literal title) last year, is gearing up to accumulate more subscribers by presenting even more diverse programs this year.

During the press conference to unveil its content line-up for this year, held at Conrad Seoul Hotel in Seoul Tuesday, the leading domestic streamer introduced its original series and movies scheduled to be released this year.

"Wavve's success strategy is to produce series that are not only entertaining but also cost-effective," said Lee Tae-hyun, head of the streamer. Lee also emphasized that Wavve plans to focus more on introducing differentiated content by combining unprecedented materials with the original directing methods developed in Korea.

The streamer plans to release “Game of Blood Season 2” as its very first original work of this year.

The work, which will be available for national subscribers on Friday, is a survival reality show during which participants will compete against each other for the 300-million-won prize money by only making use of their mental and physical skills. The second season will be exclusively dropped on Wave, as a sequel to the first season, which was previously broadcasted on Munhwa Broadcasting Center and available on Wavve.

Producer Hyun Jung-wan, who took the helm of this reality show, gave an appetizing teaser to the show during the press conference, saying, the second season will be much more hard-core. Dex, one of the cast, also added, "It contains contents that terrestrial broadcasters will not be able to deal with."

Its other original variety show "Stranger's Love," which also features a rather sensitive topic, will also return with the second season in June. This one-of-a-kind love reality show will follow youths trying to find love while staying together.

The streamer also has original series starring Lee Na-young and Yoo Seung-ho in its long list of content.

“Park Ha-kyung’s Journey,” starring Lee Na-young, will be unveiled on May 24. This upcoming travel-themed series is expected to give viewers time to relax and chill amid the ongoing flood of provocative content. It will follow the Korean literature teacher Park Ha-kyung (Lee Na-young) who decides to go on a one-day trip while putting everything aside.

Meanwhile, the chilling crime thriller "The Deal” will be put out in the second half of this year. This gripping work will follow two young men in their 20s who accidentally come to kidnap their alumni.

Actor Yoo Seung-ho, who will suit up as Lee Joon-sung, said, "I always waited for the day to have an opportunity to play such a role."

"With the good and evil constantly fighting in my mind, it was very challenging to make up my mind and portray the emotions,” he said. "I tried to express what I would have felt if I were really put in that situation."

In addition, the streamer will also have another enthralling crime film "Dead Man," starring Cho Jin-woong and Kim Hee-ae, two highly acclaimed actors, available for national viewing also in the second half of this year.

The film will tell the story of Lee Man-jae (Cho Jin-woong), also dubbed the boss of the underground who makes money from his name. As he gets falsely accused of embezzling 100 billion won and now has to live as a "dead man,” Lee goes after the real culprit to regain his title.

Director Ha Joon-won, who was in charge of writing and producing this action-packed flick, said, "It took about five years only for the preparatory research as it was very challenging to gather sources on the case we talk about in the film.”

"One of my principles while gathering the cast was to find a fresh combination of actors who have never worked together before," he said. "Cho is an actor who adeptly expresses deep emotions, whom I thought would be perfect as the main lead who falls into an endless abyss, while Kim was a perfect fit for the role of Mrs. Shim who wrongfully makes use of the man who just fell into hell."
