SEOUL,
Jan. 20 (Yonhap) --
JTBC said Tuesday that Koo, Go, Oh Jung-se, Kang Mal-geum and Park Hae-joon have been cast in Park’s upcoming series, tentatively titled "Everyone Is Fighting Against Their Own Worthlessness," set to air in the first half of this year.
The show follows a man consumed by jealousy and envy as his life fails to fall into place while those around him thrive, and depicts his journey toward rediscovering inner peace.
In his first leading role in a TV drama, Koo plays Hwang Dong-man, a would-be film director who is the only member of the renowned movie circle known as the "Group of Eight" yet to make his debut. Anxious and insecure, Dong-man struggles desperately to conceal his sense of worthlessness.
Go takes on the role of Byun Eun-ah, a producer at Choi Film nicknamed "Axe" for her razor-sharp script critiques. Park Hae-joon plays Dong-man’s older brother, Hwang Jin-man, a former poet who now drifts from one construction job to another.
Oh portrays Park Kyung-se, a film director affiliated with Go Park Film who has directed five feature-length films and shares a love-hate relationship with Dong-man. Kang plays Go Hye-jin, the CEO of Go Park Film and Kyung-se’s wife.
The project has drawn attention as Park’s latest work following her widely praised dramas "My Mister" and "My Liberation Notes." The series will be directed by Cha Young-hoon, known for "When the Camellia Blooms" and "Welcome to Samdal-ri."
