Director Bong Joon-ho donates 300 million won to support independent films

SEOUL, April 8 (Yonhap) -- Director Bong Joon-ho will donate 300 million won (about $268 thousand) as prize money for the Samsung Ho-Am Prize, in order to help develop independent films.

Barunson E&A, the production company for the movie "Parasite," announced on the 8th that director Bong Joon-ho, who was selected as the winner of the 2021 Samsung Ho-Am Award, will donate 300 million won in prize money to support the production of independent films.

The donation will be provided to independent film directors, including short films, and the details will be discussed with the independent film officials later this month.
