SEOUL, Sep. 28 (Yonhap) -- Actors and actress Kim Nam-gil, Lee Da-hee, Cha Eun-woo and Sung-jun are to appear in an upcoming series “Island,” according to an official from the series Tuesday.
The fantasy action drama, based on a Naver webtoon by Youn In-wan·Yang Kyung-il with the same title, draws a sad but peculiar journey in Jeju island of the characters destined to fight against the evil which is attempting to destroy the world.
Kim will take the role of ‘Ban’ who have grown up to become a tragic man unable to get along with humans, Cha will become ‘Yo-han’ a Catholic exorcist, Lee will play ‘Won Mi-ho,’ a 3rd generation of a rich family and a teacher and Sung-joon will appear as ‘Gung Tan’ (translataed) who has grown up as a slayer to fight off the evil with Ban.
Bae-jong, producer of the film “Welcome to Dongmakgol” and “Jojakdoen dosi,” will direct the series. Also, author Youn In-wan, producer of the webtoon, will take part as a producer as well.
“Island” is the first project after a contract between a prominent drama producer “Studio Dragon” and “YLAB,” an expert producer of Korean style superhero contents.
The series will be aired in the first half of 2022.
