SEOUL, June 18 (Yonhap) -- Hollywood actor Tom Cruise visited Korea on June 17 to promote his new film "Top Gun: Maverick"("Top Gun 2").
The actor departed on a private jet from the UK, where he was filming "Mission: Impossible 8," and arrived at the Seoul Gimpo Business Aviation Center(SGBAC) on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
Tom Cruise, who arrived in sunglasses and a short-sleeved T-shirt, left the airport after posing a "finger heart" for six minutes to hundreds of fans who came to meet him.
Considering the difficulty of close contact due to COVID-19, he also took a "long-distance selfie" with fans outside the maintenance line of order.
This is Cruise's tenth visit to South Korea, and it is the first time in four years since “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” was released in 2018.

The actor, who turned 60 this year, enjoyed visiting S. Korea in line with the release of his films, including "Interview With The Vampire" in 1994, the "Mission Impossible" series, “Valkyrie," and "Jack Reacher: Never Go Back.”
Cruise will step on the red carpet at the outdoor plaza of Lotte World Tower on June 19 and hold a press conference with producer Jerry Bruckheimer the next day.
Cruise returned to the US Naval Training School in 36 years since "Top Gun"(1986) to play the role of Maverick, a captain of US Naval Aviator, in "Top Gun 2,” which will hit the theaters in Korea on June 22.
According to Box Office Mojo, which tracks box-office revenue, "Top Gun 2" has sold about $416 million(538.1 billion won) in ticket sales in North America alone, where the movie was released on May 27, breaking the record of Cruise’s filmography.
The actor’s visit to Korea will be joined by Hollywood rookie actors, such as Miles Teller (Rooster), Glen Powell(Hangman), Jay Ellis (Payback), and Greg Tarzan Davis (Coyote).
