SEOUL, August 13 (Yonhap) — The Boryeong Mud Festival in Chungcheongnam-do and Songkran Festival in Thailand, which were selected as one of Asia's three major festivals along with the Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival in China last year, will collaborate together.
The Boryeong Festival Tourism Foundation signed an agreement with the Tourism Authority of Thailand on Friday.
The signing ceremony was attended by Boryeong Mayor Kim Dong-il, Tourism Authority of Thailand governor Yutasak Supason, and Asian department Director of the World Festival Association Jeong Gang-hwan.
The Songkran Festival in Thailand is a festival where participants enjoy spraying water or shooting water guns at each other.
Mayor Kim Dong-il said, "The Boryeong Mud Festival is a great opportunity to make one step closer to globalization,” adding, “I hope this will be an opportunity to collaborate and both festivals improve for the better.”
