SEOUL, July 7 (Yonhap) -- Singer and actor Park Ji-hoon will take on the role of a legendary army cook in TVING’s upcoming comic drama series "Becoming a Legend as a Cook."
TVING announced Monday that Park Ji-hoon, Yoon Kyung-ho, Han Dong-hee, and Lee Hong-nae will star in the series, which is scheduled to be released next year. The show is based on the popular webtoon of the same name and follows the story of a cook who trades rifles for knives and ammo belts for aprons — rising to legendary status in the military kitchen.
Park will play Kang Sung-jae, a conscripted soldier who suddenly gains a mysterious ability to see food quality and recipes appear before his eyes, as if in a video game. This power leads him to refine his culinary skills as an army cook.
Yoon Kyung-ho will play Sergeant Park Jae-young, known as a “ticking time bomb” in Company 4, where Kang is stationed. Han Dong-hee will appear as Lieutenant Jo Ye-rin, a warm-hearted leader with charismatic command presence, while Lee Hong-nae takes on the role of Senior Cook Sergeant Yoon Dong-hyun.
The series is written by Choi Ryong, who drew on his own experience as a military cook, and directed by Cho Nam-hyeong, known for dramas such as "Superior Day."
