SEOUL, August 23 (Yonhap) -- The "Pumba Festival" hosted by Eumseong county, North Chungcheong Province will be meeting the audience in person for the first time in three years.
According to Eumseong county on Monday, the 23rd Eumseong Pumba Festival will be held in Seolseong Park, Eumseong-eup, from September 21 till September 25.
Due to the spread of COVID-19, it has been conducted online for the past two years.
On the first day of the festival, there will be a competition for the elderly living alone and the disabled on raising a plant, a Pumba House building contest with the citizens of the county, a Pumba & Rapper collaboration performance, a Pumba musical gala show, fireworks, and a celebratory performance.
On August 22, the national Gogojanggu/Pumba live busking will be held, while on August 23, the global Pumba Rapper Contest will be held. On August 24, the National Youth Pumba Dance Contest, Pumba Photo Contest, and the National Pumba Street Parade will also add on to the excitement of the festival.
On the last day, the musical performance, "Father, Father" and the National Pumba Song Festival will wrap up the show.
"As much as this is the first face-to-face festival in three years, we will thoroughly prepare to provide unforgettable memories to visitors," said an official from the county.
The Eumseong Pumba Festival was started in 2000 to commemorate the noble will of the late Grandfather Choi Gwi-dong, a "saint for beggars" who helped beggars living under the bridge in Mugeuk-myeon.
It was also designated as the only cultural tourism festival in the province by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for three consecutive years.
