SEOUL, Oct. 5 (Yonhap) -- ITZY, a third year girl-band, has taken Billboard 200, American Billboard main album chart, by storm ranking 11th place with their new album.
ITZY’s 1st regular album “CRAZY IN LOVE” landed on 11th place on this week’s Billboard 200, Billboard announced through Twitter on the 4th (local time).
The recent record is the 3rd highest rank as a K-pop girl group, following that of BLACKPINK (2nd place) and Twice (6th place).
Earlier, ITZY entered the chart for the first time with their 4th mini album “GUESS WHO” in May. Then, in five months, they recently have managed to rank their name 137 steps higher on Billboard 200.
Billboard 200 ranks the most popular albums in the U.S. based on the total added up numbers of traditional album sales figures with streaming and digital download figures converted into album sales.
The band has showed an excellent result in real album sales, which is considered the measure for the size and power of an artist’s fandom, and topped on “Top Album Sales,” Billboard’s specific chart.
ITZY, who formed a fandom since debut through showcases in America, began global activities releasing an album, initially released in Korea in January, with its title song changed into English.
Also, the recent album was also released at Friday midnight (US EST), at which Billboard starts ranking. The bands showcased the title song “LOCO” in a famous local talk show, NBC “Kelly Clarkson Show.”
The five-piece band, ITZY of JYP Entertainment is considered one of the representative girl bands of so-called “4th generation idols,” which are gen Z idol bands putting forth music and performances that express ‘being myself’ and honest images.
The band’s music videos for five title songs habe recorded 100 millions of views on YouTube which is a exceptionally excellent score as a third year band. Their recent title song “LOCO” has exceeded 66 million views in 1 week since release as well.
The album’s first week sales have been setting new records and their 1st regular has marked about 260,000 copies, the band’s largest figure.
