'Confidential Assignment 2' tops S.Korean box office for five weeks

SEOUL, Oct. 11 (Yonhap) -- S.Korean movie "Confidential Assignment 2," starring Hyunbin and Yoo Hae-jin,has topped the South Korean weekend box office for fifth consecutive weeks.


The movie maintained its top position with 303,787 admissions from Oct.7 to 10, according to the box office tally from the Korean Film Council.

The cumulative attendance of the movie, which was released on Sept. 7, is now around 6.6 million.

Yet it seems difficult to surpass the record of previous film as the number of attendees is not growing.

Musical movie "Life Is Beautiful" placed second garnaring 193,000. Released on Sept. 28, the movie has a cumulative audience of 649,000.

"Life Is Beautiful" is about wife Oh Se-yeon (Yum Jung-ah) who asks her husband Kang Jin-bong (Ryu Seung-ryong) to help her find her childhood sweeatheart.

Horror movie "Smile," which was released on Oct.6, ranked fifth place, selling 51,000 tickets on Oct. 7-10.

Following the previous weekend, the audience continued their interest in animation movies.
