SEOUL, Mar. 15 (Yonhap) -- Group BTS’s “Spring Day” is Korea’s next representative Spring song after Busker Busker’s “Cherry Blossom Ending” and HIGH4 “Not Spring, Love, or Cherry Blossoms.”
Korea’s biggest music site Melon analyzed on Tuesday the March~May chart for the past 5 years, and “Spring Day,” was listed in the top 100 monthly charts from March~May without skipping a year for five years from 2017~2021.
The music streaming service explained, “‘Spring Day,” is a representative steady seller of K-pop, which has been in the top 100 for more than five years since its release in February 2017, ranking the highest in spring and showing a slight decline every year when the weather gets chilly."
“Cherry Blossom Ending,” one of the most popular Spring songs, failed to enter the top 100 in the Spring of 2021 since it ranked No. 60 in April 2020. “Not Spring, Love, or Cherry Blossoms” made it in the top 100 in April 2021, when the cherry blossoms peaked.
Among global artists, American singer-songwriter Lauv’s “Paris In the Rain,” released in 2018, drew attention by entering the top 100 between March and May for the third consecutive year from 2019 to 2021.
Meanwhile, Melon is holding a “Spring Day Destiny Song” (translated) event from March 15, 12 p.m. to April 5, that recommends Spring songs to users.
