Busan International Film Festival getting back to normal after three years

SEOUL, September 28 (Yonhap) -- The opening ceremony of the 27th Busan International Film Festival is in a week. 
 
The film festival is being held normally after three years and will be open from October 5 until October 14. 
 
243 films from 71 countries will be presented during the film festival, including the opening film, "Scent Of Wind" by director Hadi Mohaghegh from Iran, and the closing film "A Man" by director Ishikawa Kei. There will be 89 world premiere films which will be released for the first time, and 13 international premiere films which will be released for the first time outside of their home country. 
 
There are different programs planned where famous people from the movie industry from Korea and abroad participate, including actors Han Ji-min, Kang Dong-won, Ha Jung-woo, and Lee Young-ae, as well as Hong Kong actor Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, director James Cameron and producer John Lando of Avatar: The Way of Water, and directors Peter Chan and Alain Guiraudie. 
 
◇ To show a large number of internationally renowned works
 
At this year's Busan Film Festival, the audience will be able to watch films that were popular at international film festivals such as Cannes, Berlin, and Venice.
 
The 75th Cannes Film Festival winners included "Triangle of Sadness," the Golden Palm award (directed by Ruben ÖSTLUND), "Close," the Grand Prix award (directed by Lukas Dhont), "Eight Mountains," the Jury Prize (directed by Felix van Groeningen, Charlotte van der Mirhi), "EO," the Jury Prize (directed by Jerzy SKOLIMOWSKI), and "Decision to Leave," the Award for Best Director (directed by Park Chan-wook).  
 
The 72nd Berlin Film Festival winners included "Alcarras" Golden Bear award (directed by Carla Simon), "Everything Will Be OK" Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Contribution (directed by Rithy Pahn), "The Novelist’s Film" Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize (directed by Hong Sang-soo), and "Both Sides of the Blade" Silver Bear for Best Director (directed by Claire Denis). 
 
In addition, winners from the Venice Film Festival, "Saint Omer" Silver Lion – Grand Jury Prize (directed by Alice Diop), Locarno Film Festival winner "Rule 34" The Golden Leopard (directed by Julia Murat), "Have Electric Dreams" (directed by Valentina Maurel), which won the best director award and the best actor and actress awards, and "Utama" (directed by Alejandro Roisa Grissy), which won the Sundance Film Festival's World Cinema Dramatic Jury Prize) were also invited. 
 
◇ From Tony Leung Chiu-Wai to Peter Chan, the world's movie stars in Busan 
 
Tony Leung Chiu-Wai will visit Busan to present his masterpiece "In the Mood for Love," directed by Wong Kar Wai, the most anticipated program of this year's film festival.  
 
Including the movie "In the Mood for Love", which won the Best Actor award trophy at the Cannes Film Festival. "2046," "The Eagle Shooting Heroes," "Infernal Affairs," "The Longest Nite," and "Happy Together," will be screened, and Tony Leung Chiu Wai will also have a meeting time to communicate with the audience after the screening.
 
The French director, Alain Guiraudie, is also preparing to meet the audience. Having become a master with the movies "Old Dreams in Strange Times" (2001) and "No Rest for the Brave" (2003), he visits Busan with his new work, "Nobody's Hero." He will tell the story of his movie world through the "Master Class" program.
 
The sequel to the world's number one box office "Avatar" (2009), "Avatar: The Way of Water," will be premiered for 15-minutes at the film festival this year. Producer Jon Landau and director James Cameron will have a conversation with the audience, James Cameron will be joining virtually.  
 
In addition, actors Gang Dong-won, Lee Young-ae, Ha Jung-woo, and Han Ji-min will meet their audience and talk about their acting careers and philosophies during the "Actors' House." For the "Film Maker's Talk," the director of the movie "Almost a Love Story," Peter Chan, will be meeting his audience.

Unreleased OTT series which are looked forward are going to be premiered during "On Screen"
 
Many people are looking forward to "YONDER."The series depicts the story of a man who misses his deceased wife and meets her in a world called "Yonder," a mysterious space created by highly advanced technology where living people can meet the dead. 
 
"Connect", directed by MIIKE Takashi from Japan and played by actors Jung Hae-in, Ko Kyung-pyo, and Kim Hye-jun. and "Recipe for Farewell", played by Han Seok-kyu, Kim Seo-hyung, and Jin Hoe-un, are looked forward to as well. 
 
"Connet," which is adapted from a webtoon of the same title, depicts a mysterious story that occurs when Dong-soo (Jung Haein) realizes that his eye, which has been deprived by organ hunters, was transplanted to a serial killer. 
 
Director Lee Ho-jae's "Recipe for Farewell" tells the story of Changwook (Han Seokkyu), who starts writing a kitchen diary while cooking for his wife, Dajung (Kim Seohyung), who is suffering from a terminal illness.
