Singers K.Will and Hwang Chi-yeol to present remakes of nostalgic K-pop songs

SEOUL, Aug. 24 (Yonhap) -- As reinterpreting of older songs have become a trend in the music industry this year, remakes of popular original soundtracks (OST) and music used on Cyworld, a Korean social network service, will be released one after another.

TOON STUDIO, a webtoon OST production company, announced Tuesday that singer K.Will will release a remake of the song "Back In Time," originally sung by singer Lyn, on Aug. 31.

"Back In Time," which was the representative soundtrack for MBC's popular romance historical drama "The Moon Embracing the Sun," was well-received by the public when the drama aired in 2012.

K.Will's remake version will be released in collaboration with Naver webtoon series "The Moon during the Day," which was serialized between 2013 and 2017.

"The Moon during the Day" is a historical drama webtoon which depicts the mournful love intertwined between a man and a woman for 1,500 years. K.Will will reinterpret the song on behalf of the hearts of the main characters Doha and Rita.

Singer Hwang Chi-yeol will release "Nagging" on Aug. 24 as the eighth song of his "Cyworld BGM 2021" project, where the singer remakes popular background music used by users on Cyworld in the past.

The original song "Nagging," released by band The Nuts in 2006, is a mournful ballad that delivers the message of missing the naggings of their loved ones. In the remix, Hwang Chi-yeol combined the strong band sound with his unique husky voice.

Previously, popular Cyworld background music such as Jung Seung-hwan's "I Have a Lover," Ailee's "Snow Flower," Gaho's "Officially Missing You," and GIFT's "Time Walking on Memory" were remade.
