Entertainment Industry Joins in Support for Wildfire Victims

SEOUL, March 28 (Yonhap) -- As large-scale wildfires continue to cause damage across the country, the entertainment industry is stepping up with donations to aid recovery efforts. 

 

Actors Jang Keun-suk and the couple Kim So-yeon and Lee Sang-woo donated 100 million won and 50 million won, respectively, to the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association. Actress Joo Hyun-young also contributed 10 million won. 

 

Jang Keun-suk expressed his hopes for a swift containment of the fires and for those affected to regain their peaceful daily lives. He also conveyed his deep gratitude to the firefighters working tirelessly to extinguish the flames.

 

Lee Jun-ho donated 100 million won to World Vision, where he serves as an ambassador. The full amount will be used to provide emergency relief supplies and living expenses for children and residents affected by the disaster in the Gyeongsang region.

Actors Uee, Ahn Jae-wook, and So Yoo-jin donated 50 million won, 20 million won, and 30 million won, respectively, to the Korean Red Cross to aid wildfire recovery efforts. The donations will be used to support displaced victims.

 

Ahn Jae-wook, who is also a promotional ambassador for the Korean Red Cross, expressed his support for firefighters, volunteers, and displaced residents, hoping they find strength during this difficult time.

 

Music industry stars have also joined the fundraising efforts.

 

The group SEVENTEEN made a generous donation of 1 billion won to the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association to support wildfire victims.

 

SEVENTEEN stated, "We hope our donation can provide even the smallest help to those affected by the wildfires. We express our deepest condolences to the victims and send our support to everyone going through these difficult times."

 

BTS members J-Hope and Suga each donated 100 million won to wildfire relief efforts. J-Hope made his contribution through Hope Bridge, while Suga donated through the Korean Red Cross.

 

Through their agency, BigHit Music, they shared, "We hope the prolonged wildfire situation will come to an end soon. We sincerely wish for those who have lost their homes and are facing hardships, as well as those working hard to extinguish the fires, to return to their peaceful daily lives as quickly as possible."

 

Rapper Lee Young-ji revealed on her personal X (formerly Twitter) account that she donated 100 million won to the Korean Red Cross. She wrote, "I hope it rains a lot. I hope neither the firefighters nor the local residents suffer any injuries."

 

Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon, Red Velvet’s Seulgi, and singer Young Tak, who hails from Andong, each donated 100 million won to the Korean Red Cross, while rapper Loco contributed 20 million won.

 

Singer couple Lee Hyori and Lee Sang-soon donated 100 million won and 20 million won, respectively. Singers Lyn, Kim Jong-kook, and Kim Hee-jae each donated 50 million won, and Jungwon of ENHYPEN contributed 30 million won to Hope Bridge.

 

MONSTA X donated 100 million won to Good Neighbors, while Red Velvet’s Wendy and TWICE’s Jihyo each donated 50 million won to Community Chest of Korea (Love’s Sharing).

 

K-pop singer Park Seo-jin also contributed 100 million won to Hope Bridge.

 

Currently, large-scale wildfires continue to spread, particularly in the Gyeongsang region. As of 6 a.m., 26 people have been reported dead, and approximately 16,700 people have been displaced due to the disaster.
