SEOUL, Aug. 31 (Yonhap) -- This year's 26th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) to be open on October 6th has selected 12 pieces to screen for Korea Cinema Today_Vision section.
The section has acted as a cradle for independent feature films and for discovering emerging competent directors.
This year's festival has selected 2 more titles than last year for the section, according to BIFF office Tuesday.
They have chosen “Nobody’s Lover” by director Han In-mi, ‘Through My Midwinter” by director Oh Seongho, “A Lonely Island in the Distant Sea” by director Kim Mi-young and “Doom Doom” by director Jung Won-hee.
Also, “A Bit Different” directed by Lee Woo-dong, “Sophie’s world” directed by Lee Je-han, “No Surprise” directed by Shin Sun, “Hot in Day, Cold at Night” directed by Park Song-yeol, “Film for the Coming Winter” directed by Kim Kyung-rae, “Chorokbam” directed by Yoon Seo-jin, “Not One and Not Two” directed by Seo Bo-hyung and “The Conversation” directed by Kim Duk-joong are to join the festival as well.
The entries will be evaluated and awarded with various prizes such as DGX-MEGABOX Award, CGV Arthouse Award, KBS Independent Film Award, CGK&SamyangXEEN Award, Citizen Critics’ Award and Actor & Actress of the Year Award.
The film festival rated that this year’s selections for the section “have a high quality of production and outstanding craftsmanship.”
They are also highly evaluated with their solid plots and planning with daring and original imageries.
“Short Vacation” (2020) directed by Kwon Min-pyo and Seo Han-sol, “Moving On” (2019) directed by Yoon Dan-bi, “Microhabitat” (2017) directed by Jeon Go-woon, “Park Hwa-young” (2017) directed by Lee Hwan and “Autumn, Autumn” (2016) directed by Jang Woo-jin have premiered through this section and has received positive comments being invited to overseas well-known film festivals.
