GOT7's Jinyoung to star as leading role for upcoming movie 'Christmas Carol'

SEOUL, Oct. 8 (Yonhap) -- K-pop boy group GOT7's Jin-young has confirm to star in the upcoming movie "Christmas Carol" and start filming early next year, according to production company FineCut on Friday.

"Christmas Carol," which is based on the novel with the same title and written by Joo Won-kyu, follows the story of a boy who enters a youth detention center on his own to revenge the death of his twin brother.

Jin-young will play a double role as the twin brothers Joo Il-woo and Joo Wol-woo.

Director Kim Sung-su, who directed the films "Running Wild," "Genome Hazard," and the OCN drama "Save Me," was in charge of screenwriting and directing.

"This is a coming-of-age movie under the guise of a revenge play," Director Kim said. "The movie depicts the story of children trying to escape from a world where rules made by adults are dominated."
