SEOUL, Sept. 4 (Yonhap) -- "We prepared everything to ensure that Season 2 would be completely different from Season 1, from the overall atmosphere to the selection criteria for participants and even the game rules' details."
The intense brain game reality show "Devil's Plan" is returning with an even larger scale in its second season.
At a press conference held on the set in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, on the 2nd, PD Jung Jong-yeon stated, "We just finished filming Season 2 yesterday," emphasizing, "We put a lot of thought into making sure the story wouldn’t just repeat Season 1."
Released last year, Season 1 of "Devil's Plan" featured 12 participants from various professions, including celebrities, influencers, and ordinary people, who lived together for seven days, competing in games.
Season 1 received praise for its depiction of various human relationships and the shifts within the community, providing entertainment that resembled a social experiment. It reached the top 10 series in Korea and entered the top 10 in a total of 23 countries.

PD Jung noted, "This season, the number of players has increased to 14," pointing out, "With two more eliminations, it should be even more exciting to watch." He added, "We built a set that’s 1.8 times larger than Season 1, spanning 1,000 pyeong (approximately 3,300 square meters). We paid attention to the details so that the set could resemble a credible lodging facility."
Since 2013, PD Jung has been known as a pioneer in the "brain survival genre," consistently delivering new shows such as "The Genius," "Society," "Great Escape," "Girls' High School Mystery Class," and "Mystery Investigation Unit." He has earned a strong fan base for designing intricate missions that require deductive reasoning, along with the unique worlds featured in his shows.
While games in previous projects were developed by PD Jung and his writers, this time they sought to differentiate by recruiting external talent. PD Jung explained, "We felt the need for diversity, so we assembled a team specifically for game development for the first time."
He continued, "There are quite a few offline gatherings among fans who enjoyed 'The Genius,' and we contacted participants from those meetings to form a team. About half of the games featured in this season were developed with that team... Every Sunday, we had meetings and played games together, which was a lot of fun. I received a lot of help, and those guys were really excited about the idea of getting credit for a show they love."

Set to be released in the first half of next year, "Devil's Plan" Season 2 has yet to reveal its lineup of participants.
PD Jung said, "We cast considering a range of personality types among the participants," and explained, "From submissive to aggressive personalities, we made sure to have a balanced mix."
"Some participants might be criticized for being too ruthless, while others might be seen as lacking the toughness expected of a survival show contestant. I trusted the entertainment value of these diverse traits and moved forward with the show."
