SEOUL, July 14 (Yonhap) — South Korean sibling duo AKMU will release its new album “Next Episode” that features prominent artists such as IU and Lee Sun-hee on the 26th, according to YG Entertainment on Wednesday.
This is the first time in about two years where AKMU has released an album since its third full-length album "Sailing" in September 2019.
In particular, the new album will be in the form of a "collaboration album” while featuring popular artists including IU, Lee Sun-hee, Zion.T, Beenzino, Jannabi’s Choi Jung-hoon, Crush, and Sam Kim for all the tracks listed in the album.
According to the pre-released tracklist, IU participated in AKMU’s title track "Falling (tentative title)” while Lee Sun-hee featured in the first track "Battlefield (tentative)," Zion.T in "Bench.”
Crush was featured in "Stupid Love Song" and Sam Kim in "EVEREST.”
With AKMU's Lee Chan-hyuk participating in writing and composing all the songs, producers such as Millennium, Jukjae, PEEJAY and Lee Hyun-young helped produce the songs.
Earlier on Monday, YG released a teaser video with the phrase "ANOTHER SUMMER, ANOTHER EPISODE,” which referred to the upcoming album. This teaser also suggested a possible connection between the new album and AKMU’s 2017 single "SUMMER EPISODE.”
AKMU is a brother-sister duo that has drawn attention for its original musicality. The singers have made a number of hit songs such as “How can I love the heartbreak, you`re the one I love” and has established themselves as a strong music source and have actively collaborated with various musicians.
