SEOUL, March 18 (Yonhap) -- Director Park Chan-wook's new drama 'The Sympathizer' will be released next month.
Coupang Play announced on the 18th that it will release the HBO original limited series "The Sympathizer" sometime next month.
"The Sympathizer" is a spy thriller that depicts the story of a North Vietnamese intelligence agent who infiltrates the secret police of South Vietnam in the 1970s. Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name by Vietnamese-American author Viet Thanh Nguyen.
Director Park participated as a co-showrunner of "The Sympathizer," overseeing all aspects of production, scriptwriting, and direction. It is his second global series directed following BBC's "The Little Drummer Girl."
The protagonist of the spy role is played by Huỳnh Hiểu Minh, with Robert Downey Jr. playing four roles in one. Korean actress Sandra Oh also stars alongside them.
It will be exclusively available on Coupang Play for seven weeks starting from April.
