SEOUL, Jan. 6 (Yonhap) – “Dried Persimmon Festival”, where you can purchase sweet and chewy dried persimmons in Yeongdong, North Chungcheong Province at a low price, has been held at Yeongdong Gymnasium in Yeongdong on Friday.
It has been three years since the Yeongdong Dried Persimmon Festival was held face-to-face. It was conducted online in 2021 and last year when the COVID-19 spread.
This year's festival, which runs for three days until Sunday, will involve 34 farmers to sell high-quality dried persimmons at a lower price than the ones sold in market.
There is also Yeongdong Dried Persimmon Promotion Theme Hall to promote the excellence and origin of Yeongdong dried persimmons.
On the first day of the festival, New Year's concert will be held by the Nanggye Korea Music Orchestra along with the opening ceremony.
MBC Hanmaeum Concert featuring popular singers to be held on Saturday and children's musical "Cocomong," dried persimmon farm singing contest, Pumba show, and closing celebration performances to be held on Sunday.
Throughout the festival, dried persimmons are given and dried persimmons event game is held from time to time.
It operates a sledding slope and a kids playground zone for family visitors, and various programs such as foot baths, roasting chestnuts, traditional folk games, and wish hanging at New Year’s wish hope tunnel are taking place.
