SEOUL, Aug. 20 (Yonhap) -- K-pop queen BLACKPINK, which recently released a Japanese album, appeared on a famous music program in Japan to present its latest performance.
BLACKPINK performed "Lovesick Girls" in Japanese on TV Asahi's "Music Station" stage on Friday, according to the K-pop act's agency YG Entertainment.
The song is in the Japanese version of BLACKPINK's first full-length album "The Album" released on Aug. 3. This is the first time BLACKPINK has performed this song on stage.
In a video interview before the stage, member Jisoo introduced the song in Japanese, saying, "It contains a message about someone who is hurt by love, but still wants to pursue that love.”
Lisa also explained, "The point choreography is to draw a big heart and expresses the pain of love as if someone was having a headache."
BLACKPINK, which officially debuted in Japan in 2017, has succeeded in gaining a huge fanbase in the country.
The group’s first full-length Japanese album topped the Oricon Daily Album chart and the Japanese Apple Music Top Album chart shortly after its release.
