'Burning Beaver 2022' featuring 80 various upcoming indie games kick off

SEOUL December 17 (Yonhap) -- “Burning Beaver 2022” an online and offline indie game festival hosted by South Korean game development company Smilegate successfully kicked off .

Future Lab center of Smilegate successfully kicked off the “Burning Beaver 2022” at a pop up exhibition area located in Sinsa-dong Seoul on December 16.

Within the exhibition visitors are greeted with over 80 various booths filled with indie games from the field of action, casual, arcade and more.

Founder of Smilegate Kwon Hyuk-bin, and CEO of Smilegate Foundation Sung Joon-ho and more visited the exhibition before it kicked off and cheered up developers who have participated at the exhibition.

“Burning Beaver 2022,” which kicked off shortly after the visit of executive officers, were packed with developers, gamers and those who are part of the industry.

Unique murder mystery game “For Your Tranquility,” by uprising game development company “Gamseung Games,” where players will look into various clues of murder to find the killer will be released shortly at the end of 2022.

Moreover, game “Ratopia,” by “Cassel Games,” where users will be provided with an opportunity to create rat citizens in a randomly created world where they harvest and create their unique kingdom. The game showcases unique way of controlling such as horizontal movements combined with simulation games typical control.

Novelpia, which is a web novel platform of Metacraft showcased visiual novel genre of game “Lovein Login” which bases its scenario from a famous web novel where the protagonist who has been playing games with for a while turns out to be a beautiful girl.

One of the visitors at the exhibition, freshmen of Seoul digitech high school, Choi Seung-min addressed that “I visited the exhibition with my friends who want to be a game developer in the near future,” adding “Unique games incorporating various technology and amazing space design seems to attracts us very well.”

Offline exhibition of “Burning Beaver 2022” will continue on until December 18, and the online exhibition which will continue on until January will showcase, over 150 various games including the 80 of the games which participated at the offline event.

Smilegate will host an online conference using the video social media service P.pool for game developers between December 21 and December 22.
